Market analyst prepared a report in 2 days instead of a week
We provided raw data on lobbying in the energy sector. The client received filtered tables ready to be pasted into a presentation.
The analytical team at Energo-Invest Polska was wasting dozens of hours manually searching through parliamentary transcripts. We provided them with raw data on lobbying in the energy sector in the form of ready-to-use tables. As a result, their quarterly report was completed 5 days faster than usual.
The challenge
The client had to monitor every mention of transmission networks and energy storage in MPs' statements. Two analysts spent an average of 38 hours per month on this, copying texts from the Sejm website into Excel. They often missed important amendments submitted in committees late at night, which generated errors in their market forecasts.
In December 2024, a mistake in one of the reports cost the company approximately 4,200 PLN for additional legal corrections. The problem was that the data is scattered across hundreds of PDF files and various government subpages. They were looking for a way to stop reading everything and start seeing only what affects their business.
Our approach
We began work on January 3, 2025, with an audit of their internal keywords. Our 3-person team launched scripts searching the Sejmometr Media database for 14 specific technical phrases. Instead of giving the client access to the entire system, which could overwhelm them, we set up an automatic data export to .csv format.
We configured filters to skip general political debates and focus on specific readings of draft laws. We manually checked the first 47 records to ensure our algorithms were not pulling incorrect information. No political gibberish – just hard facts about who proposed a change in energy law and when.
The solution
We prepared a dataset covering the activity of 3 specific parliamentary committees from the last 12 months. The client received tables broken down by MP name, amendment content, and voting result in a clear format. We verified this in tables – each row of data corresponded to one real change in legislative documentation.
Additionally, we generated 12 charts in .svg format showing the frequency of key phrases in a given quarter. The data is now updated automatically every 6 hours, so the analyst no longer needs to refresh the Sejm website. The entire project was delivered on January 8, 2025.
Results
Thanks to structured data, the time needed to prepare a strategic report dropped from 7 days to less than 48 hours. The numbers don't lie – the Energo-Invest Polska team regained almost an entire work week every month.
