Editorial office from Radom reduced analysis time by 4.64 hours
Local journalists needed a compilation of voting records for MPs from their region. Instead of manual counting, they used our ready-made tables.
The editorial staff of a local newspaper was losing a lot of time manually checking MP statistics. Numbers don't lie – instead of writing articles, journalists were counting dots in PDFs. We implemented a system of ready-made reports that provides hard facts in minutes.
The challenge
The editorial office employs 7 people. Every week, one journalist had to dedicate 6 full hours to analyzing the voting records of 9 MPs from the Radom district. They were looking for attendance information and how local politicians voted on road funding issues. It was tedious and exhausting.
Mistakes were common. In one article from June 2024, the number of an MP's absences was incorrect, resulting in a correction and an unpleasant phone call from the MP's office. The editorial office needed a way to be 99.6% sure of the numbers without working late into the night.
Our approach
Our 3-person team analyzed the last 12 political articles from this editorial office. We checked what specific data readers in Radom were looking for. It turned out that attendance and voting records regarding the regional budget mattered most.
We moved away from sending them general nationwide reports. We focused solely on specifics for district no. 17. We prepared instructions for reading the charts and configured automatic filters. No political jargon – just pure data ready for publication.
The solution
We provided the editorial office with access to a panel with data filtered to their needs. Now, the journalist doesn't have to visit the Sejm website. They select a name from the list and immediately see the summary: 47 votes, 3 absences, 12 floor speeches.
We also included 4 ready-made infographic templates for Facebook. The journalist only enters the numbers we provide, and the graphic is ready in 2 minutes. The entire process is based on verified tables that we update after each day of proceedings.
Results
Thanks to our data, the editorial office no longer fears errors in their articles. Articles about MP activity are now published on Tuesdays at 2:00 PM instead of Wednesday mornings. This has allowed them to be the primary source of information in the region.
