Coalition Voting Analysis

We check the consistency of voting within the coalition and the opposition. Our system captures moments when MPs vote against their party. An ideal tool for journalists and political analysts looking for cracks in the parliamentary majority.

How do we detect a lack of discipline in clubs?

At Sejmometr Media, we don't engage in guesswork or political gossip. Numbers don't lie. We have thoroughly analyzed the last 156 votes from the autumn 2024 session. Our spreadsheets showed that 14 MPs regularly abstain from voting on key economic bills, despite the official party line. We checked this in the tables and the data is clear – cracks in the coalition most often appear on Tuesdays after 6:00 PM. Without political jargon, we show in black and white who is breaking ranks.

Our system scans official voting records within 3.2 hours of their completion. We catch errors in machine systems and intentional button avoidance by specific politicians. In March 2024, we noticed that the consistency of one of the main clubs fell to 67% during the reading of the budget bill. This was a concrete signal for journalists that internal friction was occurring within the group that was not visible at press conferences.

Data instead of empty words

We provide ready-made charts that can be immediately uploaded to a news portal or an analytical report. We work in a team of 5 people, so every chart is checked through two stages of verification. We are not looking for sensation; we are looking for patterns. Only concrete data allows for assessing whether the parliamentary majority is stable or just an illusion. In the last quarter, we prepared 47 such compilations for national editorial offices and local portals from Małopolska.

  • Consistency table for 460 MPs divided by region.
  • Chart of cracks in block voting over the last 8 months.
  • List of "rebellious" MPs with exact dates and parliamentary bill numbers.
  • Analysis of the correlation between committee attendance and the voting result.

Our report is not a thick book full of theories. It is usually 12 pages of concrete charts and raw data in CSV format. This allows analysts to independently filter results for their needs. Sometimes onboarding a new client takes us about 11 days because we have to set up filters precisely for specific party factions. But once the system starts, data flows in regularly after every voting block.

Heads-up: We do not deal with interpreting the motivations of MPs. We only count raised hands and buttons pressed. If MP X voted differently than their club in 23% of cases, we will record it. If you want to know why they did it – you have to ask them. We give you proof that it happened. Honestly, it's the most boring, but also the most reliable method of studying politics.
